Young Earth Creationists are those people who believe in a literal interperation of the Bible. This leads them to believe the earth to only between 6000 and 10000 years old (hence "young earth"), as opposed to the billions of years science tells us. They also believe a worldwide flood occured in the face of an overwhelming lack of evidence to support this claim.
All this is well and good. It's a free, sort of, country and they can believe what they want.
The problem is that they can't stand it when the rest of us don't agree with them. Not only are we all going to hell when we die, but we must keep on a constant lookout for these retards trying to sneak their ridiculous views into school curiculums all over the country.
You see, there's a little thing called the theory of evolution that just destroys the idea of a young earth and a worldwide flood. Creationists believe that if they can discredit evolution then the rest of us will have to see the light and start thinking as they do. This is, of course, a False Dichotomy, but I won't worry about that here.
Creationists would like to see schools stop teaching evolution and start teaching that an invisible man in the sky created the earth in 6 days.
Don't laugh, the tried to have curiculums changed in Kansas and Arkansas, surprise, surprise.
Their newest tactic is to hide Creationism behind the veil of Intelligent Design, which is no more than Creationism Light.
Watch out for these people, they're painfully stupid, but extremely persistant.

I have no choice but to believe that, if they are right, I am now in Hell. One of them called me the other day to tell me he's getting married, probably with an toward making many new YEC's. What will it take to stop these people? A wonderful educational system doesen't seem to be enough.
Has everyone seen the right wing reactionary stance on the west coast appeals court finding the Pledge of Allegiance Unconstitutional? One of these idiot Senators actually said that our founding fathers must be spinning in their graves. Would someone please explain to this, supposedly educated, man that our founding fathers were not Christians, they were Deists. They wanted to protect people of all faiths and beliefs, even those lacking a belief in an imaginary friend in the sky. Let me just say this: I expect I'll tell my daughter she need not recite the pledge, and I hope some imaginary man in the sky is there to protect anyone who tells her different, or puts her down for it.
Did I mention that I hate these people?
