East Greenwich Taekwondo is the school I train at. The instructors are Mr. Chris Jacobson and Mr. Robert DelVecchio. They are both tremendous instructors and my friends. The system, part of the East Coast Taekwondo Association, is comprised primarily of ITF style Taekwondo. Individual schools will add in other disciplines as suits their needs. In the past we have added in some Judo and Aikido to shore up our close fighting abilities. We also do a considerable amount of kickboxing for practical fighting skills.
The lineage of instructors for our particular school is as follows: A Master Park, I think, from Korea, to Mr. Stuart Allen, to Mr. Dan Zarbo, to Mr. David Randall, to Mr. Michael Hodgkinson, to Mr.'s Jacobson and DelVecchio.
I have had the honor to meet Mr. Allen, who brought the system to the U.S., twice. I have met Mr. Zarbo on a few occasions, also a great honor. Mr. Zarbo started and coached the Thunderbolts, the east coast equivalent of Chuck Norris' west coast kickboxing team. I have met, many times, Mr. Hodgkinson, and think of him as a friend. I think he would agree. Mr. Jacobson was my first instructor, inviting me into his own home to train. Mr. DelVecchio, when Mr. Jacobson and I began attending E.G. TKD, spent a huge amount of time taining me for both my Green and Blue Belst tests.
Well, the school has changed hands. It's now Steve Babcock's second Dojo, so you should still check it out.
